Project Overview

This project entailed the complete redesign of a local library's website. As a UI/UX designer, my role was pivotal in transforming the website into a more user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and efficient platform. The redesign was aimed at enhancing user experience and making library resources more accessible to the community.

Project goals:

The project was initiated to address the outdated interface of the library's existing website. Our goals were to improve navigation, make resources more accessible, and create a more engaging and interactive online experience for users. By doing so, we aimed to increase website traffic and library membership, and enhance the overall image of the library in the community.

Problems and Solutions

1. Inefficient Navigation:

  • Solution: Implemented a clearer navigation system with intuitive categories and a dropdown menu for easy access to key sections.

2. Outdated Design:

​

  • Solution: Modernized the aesthetic with a contemporary color scheme, interactive elements, and alignment with the library's branding.

 

3. Poor Mobile Responsiveness:

​

  • Solution: Introduced a responsive design to ensure usability across various devices and screen sizes.

 

4. Low User Engagement:

​

  • Solution: Added personalized recommendations, user reviews, and an interactive events calendar to boost interaction.

 

5. Search Functionality Issues:

​

  • Solution: Enhanced search with advanced filters for easier resource discovery.

 

6. Inadequate Accessibility:

​

  • Solution: Added features like screen reader compatibility and adjustable text sizes for better inclusivity.

 

7. Slow Website Performance:

​

  • Solution: Optimized load times through image compression and code minification.

 

8. Limited Community Interaction:

​

  • Solution: Integrated community features like local events, book clubs, and discussion forums.
